Who am I?

Hi, I’m Janie, a Clinical Psychologist originally from Cape Town, now living and practicing in George, Western Cape.

I’m passionate about the mind and dedicated to helping you develop awareness of the patterns that keep you stuck.

Over the past 16 years, I’ve crafted a unique approach that blends psychodynamic therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Cognitive BehavioUral Therapy (CBT), and mind-body medicine to treat anxiety, depression AND TRAUMA.

A little bit about Me:

Hi, I'm Janie, a clinical psychologist and the founder of More Mental Health - an online mental health community that provides Tools and a weekly MINDSET BOOST Session for free.

I believe that we all need a regular self-compassionate practice of examining and undoing the limiting beliefs that separate us from ourselves and others. This is the foundation of my personal growth and work as a therapist. Whether you work with me individually or join The Weekly Mindset Boost I want to help you develop this healthy habit and provide you with the tools to transform your mindset. These tools are a culmination of my 16 years of experience as a clinical psychologist, working with individuals, couples, and groups. They are evidence-based, drawn from Jungian psychology, MBSR, CBT, and mind-body medicine.

What most people don’t know about me:

When I'm not helping others find their groove, you can find me enjoying the simple things in life - cosy blankets, fragrant teas, and a comforting bowl of oats, first thing in the morning. Even though I'm a Leo, I’m a total introvert, so I love spending time lazing in the sun, whether it's on the beach in the heat of summer or snuggling up with my family in the cold of winter. My favourite time of day is early mornings with my husband, slowly waking up with a warm cup of cocoa and that nourishing bowl of oats I mentioned before...

I also love early evenings when I take a walk in my neighborhood. It's a great time to connect with the mountain and chat with a few friendly neighbors and their dogs. Before I go, let me share the names of our pets for your amusement: Flapjacks the dog, Hobbes the ginger cat, Sproetjies the new kitten, Rocket the goldfish, and I'll have to check with my son for the current names of our two guinea pigs!
